We thank all the people who donated money to our Sea Turtle Program Coordinator, so he could go to Goa, India. Unfortunately he couldn’t go, because of the European flight cancellations during the recent volcanic ash event. We will still be able to use your donations otherwise for the Sea Turtle Program, and thank you for your support. If you have any questions about this, please contact us at info@ceakumal.org. |

| Sea turtle nesting season |
The sea turtle nesting season is starting, so we invite you to read our recommendations at www.ceakumal.org. Contact us for further information at info@ceakumal.org. |
|
As part of our environmental education work, CEA invites you to join us in this experience. Learn about these animals and how you can help us to protect them. Centro Ecológico Akumal (CEA) does not offer commercial tours nor have agreements with local operators. Akumal beaches during nesting season are restricted by law. CEA is the only organization with permission to work with these animals in the area and to take 10 people with us each night. Be careful of tour operators or public transportation businesses that offer you this service. |

Recycling in Akumal
The Municipality of Tulúm, Akumal authorities, the schools Jardín de Niños Malintzin and Montessori Otoch Paal, Fundación eco-Bahía and Centro Ecológico Akumal inaugurated the new recycling program of Akumal. All together presented the new vehicle which will collect all our recyclables. For further information please contact Mauricio Bautista at recicla@ceakumal.org. |
Development: Does It Really Mean Development or Destruction?
CEA led a round table discussion with the local community to think about Akumal's development. Everyone met at Que Onda to give their opinions about the future of the area and how we are going to act to redesign the actual models of development, to make Akumal a sustainable place for all of us. For more information, please contact our Director, Paul Sánchez-Navarro, at director@ceakumal.org. |
Ecoglamour Tulúm 2010
An art show recently took place at CEA. All the pieces were donated by different artists and designers from México during the Ecoglamour Tulúm 2010 festival, a production from Grupo Quinta and Neofreak. In a couple of months, we will do an auction or a raffle to raise funds for a communication campaign with the other NGOs (Fundación eco-Bahía, Razonatura, Comité Estatal de Tortugas Marinas and Contraloría Ciudadana Por Tulúm). This campaign will benefit Tulúm's aquifer. It will be directed to the hotel and restaurant owners of the area, to teach them the economic value of our natural resources. If you want to receive more information, e-mail us at comunicacion@ceakumal.org. |
